Family gave to me to sell since this is what I do on the side from my 6-230pm job everyday. . It’s been in the families hand for over 35 years. The story is this safe came off of a train from Sante Fe New Mexico. This safe is about 100 years old. My grandpa’s and his friend worked aboard the train and he bought this same safe at a auction when the train had retired. My grandpa then purchased it from his friend. It was concreted into the floor it looks like and cut out really nicely. Wheels are made of solid steel and work with no issues.
My family just found the key to the small lock box within the safe, I’ll be getting that into my hand shortly.
The safe works but needs to reset the code. He’s saying in inside of the safe, front panel of the safe has screws to take off the steel plate which has the combination lock. There is a way to change this combo, supposedly has 3 different combos to set it to. This is for someone that loves tasks, diy kind of guy, Just need to do some research and make it wok or simply call locksmith. Or simply leave as is. He used this to hold acouple of his gold coins and silver coins. And ofcourse forgot the combo.
Weighs about 250lbs I just put it in the garage today and needs to go.
I didn’t get the key yet but I did get a collection of coins. Not sure when they are but they all come with it. Even a rare set of bills in sequence order of 100 new money never circulated which I though was really cool.
